Client: Design Victoria

Project: Make Your Mark

Design Victoria is a State Government initiative established to grow and promote Victoria's design sector capabilities and to increase local
and international business awareness and utilisation of the design sector.

One tactic developed by Design Vic
and IP Australia to help strengthen the local design sector focused
on helping graphic and industrial designers understand the inherent value of their intellectual property (IP). This legalistic topic is often misunderstood by the design sector
and businesses alike.

Our job was to develop a visual identity for a series of booklets, titled How to Kits, that would explain complex issues in a language designers would easily understand. The identity had to provide a framework that tied the series together with a common sensibility while providing a system that allowed each kit to have its
own personality.

The booklets we developed engage and inform the design savvy audience.

Client: National Foods Ltd

Project: Signage

National Foods Limited (NFL ) is
one of Australia's largest food and beverage companies. In 2008, NFL consolidated several Melbourne locations into a custom designed and built head office across six floors
in Docklands. Our brief was to create a multi-level signage solution that not only reflected the NFL brand values, but also tied together the distinct architectural styles produced by the base building architects, F2, and the interior architects, Hassell.

We developed a monumental sign made from solid marble that reiterated the strong, masculine architectural language created by F2 in the building entrance lobby. And we used the same

sense of scale to develop an effective signage scheme that was sympathetic with the colourful, fun and textural interior architecture response designed by Hassell.

The branded signage solutions encompass the entrance lobby, reception area, lift lobbies, floor directories, room numbering and naming, privacy screens, operational and statutory signage.

Client: Cutler & Co

Project: Identity

Cutler & Co is our third project with chef Andrew McConnell and architect Pascale Gomes-McNabb. We collaborated
on naming, the restaurant identity, stationery, signage, menus and wine list.

We were asked to create an identity that reflected the approach to food, style of service and restaurant architecture that would make Cutler & Co unique in an extremely competitive market. Our response graphically and photographically references the gritty nature of the restaurant’s location on the fringeof the city and Fitzroy.

Project: Signage

Cutler & Co is an up market
restaurant and bar. Its Gertrude
St entrance is partly obscured by reflective glass and the restaurant
is situated directly opposite the largest methadone clinic in the southern hemisphere.

As a result, the brief for Cutler & Co signage was to ensure patrons couldn’t miss the restaurant’s location. Our response was to develop staged neon signage that cannot be missed.

Client: Cumulus Inc.

Project: Signage

Following the success of 312, it
was a pleasure to again work with
chef Andrew McConnell, architect Pascale Gomes-McNabb and their new business partner, Jayden Ong, to develop the Cumulus Inc restaurant identity, stationery, menu and wine list system, packaging and signage.

The identity for this highly popular city eating house and bar juxtaposes
the ethereal quality of soft, variable cumulus clouds with rigid, clearly defined industrial references taken
from the building.

Project: Identity

The simple, environmentally friendly packaging range we developed for Cumulus Inc provides a flexible

system and range of materials that can be adapted to suit the changing needs
of the restaurant’s takeaway business.

Client: Electrolight

Project: Identity

Electrolight are dedicated to providing their clients with creative and technical excellence in all aspects of lighting design. Their approach places collaboration, integrity and passion at the centre
of all they do.

The objective for the identity was
to communicate that Electrolight are intelligent, dynamic and confident industry leaders with a strong emphasis on collaboration and delivery.

The Logotype we created is set in lines that were inspired by the movement and dynamism of light as it travels. The logotype also represents the multi faceted skill set of the Electrolight team and how together it is greater than the sum of its parts. The formality and detail of the line spacing speaks to the intelligence and attention to detail inherent in Electrolight’s approach. They're rigourous, they're a safe pair of hands, they'll get the job done.

Project: Website
Visit Electrolight

The internet provides the perfect interactive media platform to demonstrate the dynamic nature of Electrolight's identity.

We were tasked with developing a site that profiled the practice's best projects for local and international building owners, developers and architects. The site also had to demonstrate the diverse nature of the Electrolight's capabilities and ensure they were seen as the trusted experts within Australia, in South East Asia and the Middle East.

The visual style of the site we developed suggests they are strong
and dependable yet still creatively charged. The clear and easy to navigate site architecture ensures all key information is quickly accessible.

The site was built in html with a content management system (CMS) incorporated to allow Electrolight to continually update the site. The back end of the CMS looks and behaves exactly like the front end to make updating and editing information much simpler to use than conventional CMS systems. Nice Device expertly completed the programming.
