Since 2010, The Wheeler Centre has been Melbourne’s preeminent home for writers, and a place for smart and entertaining public talks of all kinds. The popularity and impact of the organisation’s ambitious programming has been demonstrated in its audience’s appetite for unabashedly feminist content: no excuses, no apologies.
When the team came to us in 2019, they wanted to launch Broadside—a festival with a wholly feminist agenda, that could bring fresh debate and voice to specifically feminist themes—engaging younger and more diverse demographics.
“There are writers’ festivals that make you want to buy and read more books—and then there are the rare gems that shift every idea you’ve had about everything and leave you wanting to remake the world.”
